Father Philip Cioppa

 

Father Philip Cioppa is a priest of the Diocese of Albany, NY where he currently serves as Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.  He also holds a faculty appointment in Humanities and Social Sciences at Southern Vermont College in Bennington, VT. 

 

Father Cioppa was ordained in July, 1983 and holds a Master of Divinity from St. Bernard’s Institute in Rochester, NY and a Doctor of Ministry in Ecumenics from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana.  He has completed graduate studies in Theology at Oxford University in England and the Centro Pro Unione in Rome.

 

Father Cioppa has served in a number of assignments including Director of Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Albany, Executive Director of Hispanic Outreach Services, Inc., Albany, Executive Director of Catholic Social Services and Bethlehem Houses in the US Virgin Islands, Executive Director of the Northwest Regional Office for Hispanic Affairs in Yakima, WA and pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Sunnyside, WA, Sacred Heart / St. Columba Church in Schenectady, NY and Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick, Falls, NY.  He has served on a number of boards, including Sunnyside Community Hospital, Sunnyside, WA, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington, VT, New York State Advisory Board for the Division of Children and Family Services and the Community Services Board for Schenectady County, NY.  He is currently a member of the Ongoing Formation / Continuing Education Committee for Priest (past chair) for the Diocese of Albany, a member of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Dialog Commission for the same diocese and a member of the Board of Directors for the Glens Falls Symphony.

 

Father Philip Cioppa is bilingual in English and Spanish.
